Chennai International Short Film Festival (CISFF) is an initiative undertaken by a group of individuals, regarded for their achievements and their long standing association with the Indian Short Film Industry. The festival is supported and encouraged under the guidance of ‘The Chennai Academy of Motion Pictures’ – a non-profit trust created to provide assistance and the platform for budding talent in the cinema industry and promote quality films to the short film fanatics in South India. CISFF has come a long way from its 1st edition to its 6th edition with every year’s festival bringing in quality content and increasing the stature in the minds of its audience and the film
For the past 7 years, our short film festival has been showcasing the best of independent cinema from around the world. In previous years, we have held 7 successful editions, but due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we have adapted and held 3 successful online editions. We are excited to continue bringing the best in short films to audiences and look forward to welcoming you to our next edition in person.
he 7th Edition in 2020 has received more than 1500 entries from over 75+ countries. Spanned over a period of 7 days with screenings, interactions and also workshops. We witnessed a crowd of more than 1000 people from the cinema industry, media colleges and cine-enthusiasts. It had one of the world’s best projection systems and people witnessed amazing handpicked short films from across the globe at the highest quality.
The 6th Edition in 2019 has received more than 1200 entries from over 60 countries. India’s largest short film festival is getting even bigger in 2019 spanning over 7 days including a celebrity panel discussion for 6 days in the fields of direction, acting, scripting, production, designing and much more. Come witness the best of short films in the highest quality.
The 2018 festival i.e. the 5 th edition saw a plethora of short film entries from professional film makers, actors, technicians from around 45 countries exclusively for the festival among which the best from each genre were selected by the academy’s expert jury to be screened at the festival. The festival also held interactive discussions with film professionals to impart and share cinematic perspectives, ideas and knowledge. The audience comprised of college students, media professionals and general audience bringing in a mix of kinds, thus making the festival vibrant and one of a kind.
